Rubber board seeks Rs 650 cr

The Rubber Board has sought an allocation of Rs 650 crore (Rs 6.5 billion) during the 11th Five-Year Plan for the development of rubber economy.

The Rubber Board has presented a detailed plan to the commerce ministry in this regard. The economic and finance committee under the ministry will examine the proposal and forward it to the plan panel for approval.

The Rubber Board has proposed six schemes under the integrated rubber development plan. The schemes include new plantation and replantation, formation and strengthening of rubber producers' societies, farmers' training, enhancement of quality and productivity, upgradation of processing technology and facilities, market development and human resources development.
