The retail division of Godrej & Boyce would test-run its online portal for the next two weeks before extending the e-commerce facility to consumers anywhere in the world.
The company was supposed to roll out the facility in November 2006, but it got delayed due to some internal issues, said Shyam Motwani, vice-president & business head, retailing division, Godrej & Boyce.
After two weeks, consumers can simply log onto www.godrej-lifespace.com and begin transaction.
"We are mainly targeting people between 25-35 years of age, as we believe they are most Internet-savvy. Also this age group is most pressed for time and buys a lot of things online," said Motwani.
The company also believes the e-commerce facility would prove especially handy for the NRI consumers who would want to present gifts to their families back in India.
All consumer durable products, available at all Godrej 'Lifespace' stores across India, would be on offer once the online portal is ready.
