Though Mukesh doesn't like to talk much about his achievements, he has often been recognised nationally and internationally. On what drives him, Mukesh told Newsweek, "To create something out of nothing. That possibility exists in India even in old sectors like agriculture."
Mukesh Ambani was awarded the ET Business Leader of the Year Award by The Economic Times (India) in 2006.
He has the honour of being the co-chair at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2006 in Davos, Switzerland.
He is ranked 42nd among the World's Most Respected Business Leaders in a survey conducted by Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 2004.
He was selected for the World Communication Award for the Most Influential Person in Telecommunications in 2004 by Total Telecom, October, 2004.
He was chosen as Telecom Man of the Year 2004 by Voice and Data magazine, September, 2004.
Mukesh ranked 13th in Asia's Power 25 list of The Most Powerful People in Business published by Fortune magazine, August, 2004.
