Mukesh Ambani meets Chidambaram

Mukesh Ambani, head of Reliance Industries Ltd, which is  expanding its oil business and entering new areas like retail, on Monday met Finance Minister P Chidambaram and top officials of his Ministry.

No details were available on the purpose of the meetings. Emerging from North Block, which houses the Finance Ministry, Ambani refused to comment on his meetings with Chidambaram and advisor to the finance minister Parthasarathy Shome.

Asked if the meetings pertained to reimbursement of turnover tax, he said: "No." He did not elaborate. Earlier in the day, Ambani also called on Home Secretary V K Duggal.
