The Sensex swung in a wide range of 10,935-10,784, before settling with a loss of 64 points at 10,841.
Dr.Reddy's was the star performer today. Frenzied buying at the counter sent the soaring to a high of Rs 1,513. The stock finally ended with a huge gain of 9.6% at Rs 1,489. Cipla added 1% to Rs 609.
HLL surged 1.6% to Rs 255.
Tata Motors and Satyam spurted 1.2% each to Rs 918 and Rs 817, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Energy declined over 3% each to Rs 2,387 and Rs 614, respectively.
Maruti dropped 2.7% to Rs 847. Hero Honda slipped over 2% to Rs 894.
Hindalco shed 2.6% to Rs 158. SBI declined over 2% to Rs 949.
ACC, Wipro, Ranbaxy, Reliance, Gujarat Ambuja, NTPC, Bharti Tele, Infosys, TCS, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Auto were the other prominent losers among the Sensex stocks.
