Sensex gains 61 points to 10,627

After displaying volatility in a wide range of 10,706 to 10,594, the Sensex finally settled with a gain of 61 points at 10,627.

The Nifty gained 28 points to close at 3,151.

Bharti Tele was a major gainer today. The stock touched a high of Rs 401, before finishing with a gain of 5% at Rs 396.

ONGC, after declining nearly 5% in the last two trading sessions, bounced back today with a gain of 2.4% at Rs 1,148. Tata Power rallied 2.5% to Rs 535.

Maruti soared to a high of Rs 939, but profit-taking at higher levels saw the scrip pare gains and finally end 2.2% higher at Rs 904. Tata Motors zoomed 2% to Rs 863.

ITC surged nearly 2% to Rs 177.

Tata Steel and HDFC Bank spurted 1.7% each to Rs 450 and Rs 757, respectively.

SBI advanced 1.4% to Rs 894. Larsen & Toubro was up 1% at Rs 2,475.

Infosys was the major loser today. The stock slumped nearly 2% to Rs 2,853.

Continuing from where it left yesterday, ACC opened rallied to a high of Rs 723 - up nearly 6% - in opening deals. However, the stock could not hold gains and came tumbling down to Rs 668 - down 7.6% from the day's high. The stock finally ended with a loss of 1.5% at Rs 673.
