Starting the new year on a stock taking exercise, the government today said the decisions taken by it last year were the "highest" in the last ten years, focussing on implementation of the National Common Minimum Programme and promised to complete pending works.

"This enacts the inner dynamism of the UPA under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and we have tried to leave nothing in the pending box," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting, which took stock of the implementation of the NCMP and other policy related matters till December 31, 2005.

The Cabinet considered as many as 832 cases in 136 meetings during the whole of last year, the minister added.

The decisions, he said, considered and taken were the "highest in the last ten years and we are hoping it will improve further this year."

During Thursday's review meeting, the Cabinet discovered that these business transactions exceeded the last ten years, Dasmunsi said, adding that the Cabinet on an average met more than once a week.

"This is not intended as publicity," the minister said, adding this only showed that the government was committed to dispose all pending work.
