HDFC Bank on Tuesday reported a 31.28 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 224.40 crore (Rs 2.24 billion) for the third quarter ended December 31, 2005 as against Rs 170.93 crore (Rs 1.70 billion) in Q3 FY05.
According to a release issued by the bank to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday, the total income increased to Rs 1,475.94 crore (Rs 14.75 billion) in Q3 FY06 from Rs 979.55 crore (Rs 9.79 billion) in Q3 FY05.
The bank had a distribution network of 535 branches and 1,326 ATMs in 228 cities for the period ended December 31, 2005 as against 425 branches and 1,069 ATMs in 195 cities on December 31, 2004.
"The number of debit cards issued by the bank touched 3.7 million, and credit cards issued crossed the 2 million mark as of December 31, 2005," the release added.
The bank's net non-performing assets stood at 0.4 per cent of net advances on December 31, 2005 as against 0.3 per cent of net advances on December 31, 2004.
The bank's capital adequacy ratio stood at 10.3 per cent on December 31, 2005, the release added.
