Better exports pushed the company's two and three-wheeler sales for the month 33 per cent at 2,43,713 units as against 1,83,411 units in the same month a year ago.
The exports in November stood at 36,086 units as compared to 23,112 units in a year ago month, a jump of 56 per cent, Bajaj Auto said in a release.
Sales of three-wheelers increased to 29,384 units from 17,157 vehicles in the year ago period, the release said.
The company said its 100cc motorcycle Platina has crossed the sales mark of five lakh units and Bajaj Discovers' cumulative sales has exceeded the 1 million mark since launch. The new 2007 Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i also got a positive response, it added.
The motorcycle capacity of the company will be expanded to three lakh units per month from April 2007 in anticipation of a growth of 25 per cent in the next financial year.
The company would introduce three new motorcycles over the next few months, with a view to move a majority of customers away from 100cc 4-stroke motorcycles.
For the April-November period, Bajaj Auto posted a 35 per cent increase in its motorcycle sales at 16,56,591 units against 12,30,943 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Exports in the period under review grew a whopping 81 per cent at 2,86,343 units exported compared to 1,58,231 units in the same period a year ago.
TVS sales up in Nov
TVS Motor Company on Monday reported 1.1 per cent increase in motorcycle sales for November 2006 at 68,874 units as compared to 68,122 units in November 2005.
The company registered a 4 per cent increase in its two-wheeler sales in November at 1,18,157 bikes as against 1,13,261 bikes during the same month last year, TVS said in a statement.
TVS sold 21,791 units of its ungeared 100 cc scooter 'TVS Scooty' in the month compared to 21,057 bikes in the same month a year ago. The company's exports in the month grew by 23 per cent at 7,500 bikes.
Hero Honda sales up 11%
Hero Honda Motors on Friday said it sold 2,80,171 motorbikes in November 2006, up 11.5 per cent from 2,51,186 units in November 2005, according to an official release issued by the company to the BSE on Friday.
