Aerated soft drinks, chips and even toffees will not be sold in schools in Russia beginning next month when a ban by federal health authorities would come into force.

The chief sanitary doctor of Russia has ordered colas and other aerated soft drinks, chips and toffees to be banned in school canteens beginning from September 1, when the new academic year begins in the country, according to state-run Radio Mayak.

The radio said Russian school canteens would be well stocked with a wide range of milkshakes and milk products for students.
