Idea Cellular has launched a special mobile phone plan for women featuring emergency talk time of up to Rs 25 to a pre-determined number and three emergency safety alerts via short code - enabling users to alert three contacts for help.

Actress Urmila Matondkar unveiled the Idea Women's Card in Pune on Thursday.

The card will be available in both pre-paid and post-paid option, and the existing women subscribers can shift to the new card by paying a fee, Vikram Mehmi, CEO, Idea Cellular, said after the launch.

The card comes with a Gup-Shup tariff plan, designed according to women's usage patterns, featuring kitty time (2 pm to 4 pm) at 50 paise per minute, party time (10 pm to midnight) at 50 paise per minute, allowing users to call any 3 local mobile numbers at 50 paise per minute. Subscribers will also be entitled to free SMS tips on health, beauty or cookery.

"With this national launch, the women's card will be made available in all circles where Idea is operating," Mehmi said.

"According to independent research, 7 per cent of cellphone subscribers are women and we want to at least double the numbers by such innovative offers," Mehmi said.
