The first-ever Caparo T1, the world's most exclusive prototype high-performance 'super car' brought out by a subsidiary of NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul's Caparo Group, was premiered at a prestigious motoring event in Monaco on Thursday.
Prince Albert II of Monaco unveiled the 1,000 bhp per tonne road-and-track car weighing less than 500 kg, at the Top Marques show in Monaco.
This exclusive preview of the first prototype T1, which will be first marketed in India this year end, forms a significant centerpiece for the show, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte-Carlo in the heartland of one of the world's most glamorous locations and centres of motoring heritage.
The super car will come at a price tag of £150,000 (approximately Rs 1.17 crore) and will have all the features of a racing car.
Angad Paul, chief executive of Caparo plc, Caparo Vehicle Technologies' design director Ben Scott-Geddes and engineering director Graham Halstead -- the two ex-McLaren engineers whose inspiration helped create the car -- were present at the presentation to showcase the aerodynamically formed super car.
The ultra lightweight T1 is a British-designed, two-seater which has been developed using aerospace and high formula racing technology.
"This car is in a class of its own when it comes to overall performance but it also addresses in the most dramatic way possible fundamental design issues facing the automotive industry today," Angad Paul said.
"The same approach to aerodynamics, choice of materials and efficient design, which have allowed us to achieve the world's most reasonably priced super-car, can be applied in equal measure to create affordable, safe, yet lightweight, fuel-efficient family cars," he added. -- PTI
