The Centre is considering a proposal to set up two more ultra mega power projects worth 4,000 MW each in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, taking the total number of such projects to seven.

"There have been demand from a few other states in the country to set up such projects out of which we are likely to finalise the project in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa very soon," Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters in Mumbai on Monday.

There have been queries from the other states, he said adding that, "We are considering their proposal."

"We have received a good response to the Expression of InterestĀ invited for first five projects," he said.

The power ministry officials have recently carried out a road show in parts of China, Hong Kong and South Korea seeking investment in these projects.

Aiming to add one lakh MW of power with capacity addition by 2012, the government is initiating major boost to the power sector of the country.
