Indian Semiconductor Association believes the sector has the potential to grow to a size of $200 billion in the next 10 years.

ISA chairman Rajendra Khare said VLSI and embedded design are expected to account for $43 billion -- from the present $3 billion -- in the semiconductor industry within the next decade.

At an industry meet, attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he said India has inherent advantages -- given its strengths in software and design – to make it big in the semiconductor industry.

India can be a product hub for the world, said Khare, also CEO of Broadcom, a chip making company.

ISA plans to open an office in Hyderabad on April 16, he said.
