India's car market leader Maruti Udyog Ltd on Friday said it would set up world-class Maruti driving schools across 15 cities in India this year in partnership with its dealers.

These Maruti Driving Schools are modelled on international lines, where learners will be imparted classroom training, practical training and training in attitude and road behaviour, as per international practice, the company said in a statement.

MDS will be set up in partnership with Maruti dealerships, which will operate and manage the schools, it said.

Early this year, Maruti had set up three pilot Maruti Driving Schools - one each in Bangalore, Kollam and Chandigarh.

While the company has left the course fee 'open' to suit the requirements of different locations where the schools would be set up, earlier in its pilot driving schools the company had charged a course fee of around Rs 4,000.

The company said specially trained instructors (both male and female) from Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR), Delhi would conduct the training.

While there will be a standard learning package for beginners, Maruti Driving Schools will also offer the flexibility of additional learning modules so that learners can design a curriculum of their choice, it added.
