Former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, who is at loggerheads with the IT sector, would not attend the country's premier four-day IT show beginning in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Gowda would instead visit rain-affected areas in Bangalore and Kolar and would not be able to make it to the "Bangalore IT.in 2005", JD(S) spokesman Y S V Datta told PTI. Gowda would, however, convey his message to the event, Datta said and quoted him as saying that he had nothing against IT but it was his "primary duty" to be with the people when they were in distress.

The former prime minister was invited as chief guest to the event, which would see a congregation of 150 companies from across the country and 120 international firms.
Raising the hackles of the IT sector, Gowda had last week accused some tech firms of using the land allotted to them for real estate purposes.
Gowda was particularly critical of Infosys chairman N R Narayana Murthy accusing him of playing politics at the behest of Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna who he charged was trying to topple the Congress-JD(S) coalition government.
Gowda had also questioned Murthy's contribution as chairman of Bangalore International Airport Limited, leading to the exit of India's celebrated technocrat as its head.
