The largest insurance company in the country is also tossing with the idea of increasing the number of its satellite branches.
"The customer portal will help one who has at least one policy with us to get information relating to the status of his policy, the amount of loan he can get against the policy and download forms that he requires to start another policy among others," S K Kapahi, executive director (IT), LIC said.
The customer would also use the portal to deposit premium and know details about change of address, he said.
The portal for agents, he said, would help them to know the details of their commissions and the present status of the cases they deposited, claims among others. "LIC has built up the software to run these portals in-house," he added.
Meanwhile, to expand the services to the rural areas, the insurance giant would expand the number of satellite branches, provided the recently initiated experiment in this line proved to be successful. LIC has around 24 satellite centres across the country.
