The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 28 points at 8,230, and touched a high of 8,254 in early deals.
After moving in positive zone in the morning session, the index dropped to a low of 8,132 by early noon trades - an intra-day swing of 122 points. A solid bounce from lows saw the index close flat at 8,203.
The Nifty also closed flat at 2,485.
HLL moved up 1.5% (Rs 3) to Rs 176, and SBI was also up 1.5% (Rs 13) at Rs 924. Reliance gained Rs 8 to Rs 771. ONGC was down Rs 3 at Rs 989.
Infosys declined Rs 14 to Rs 2,587. TCS was up Rs 11 at Rs 1,434.
Bajaj zoomed over 7% (Rs 119) to Rs 1,810. Hero Honda was up Rs 7 at Rs 696. Maruti was up Rs 11 at Rs 545.
BHEL added over 4% (Rs 50) to Rs 1,194. Tata Steel was up Rs 5 at Rs 384.
Cipla gained 5% (Rs 18) to Rs 386.
Dr. Reddy's declined over 3% (Rs 29) to Rs 876. Bharti dropped 2.7% (Rs 9) to Rs 319. Grasim was down Rs 20 at Rs 1,192.
