With three more leased wide-bodied aircraft in its fleet, Air-India would launch daily flights from New Delhi to Hong Kong and then connect Seoul and Osaka, along with two flights a week to Shanghai from July 7.

While the Delhi-Hong Kong-Seoul flights would operate four days a week, the flight from Hong Kong to the Japanese city of Osaka would operate three times a week.

The frequency of the Shanghai flight would be raised from the present two a week to a daily service from this winter, Air-India's director (commercial), V K Verma said in New Delhi.

The country's international flagship has already expanded its route network by recently connecting the new destinations of Los Angeles, Birmingham, Toronto and Dhaka.

Verma said the airline had recently acquired three A-310 aircraft, which would be used for growth and expansion of the flight schedule.

He said the fastest growing market for Air India was the United States, where it had increased the number of flights from ten to 28 in the past two years reaching four American cities.

The US-India sector was followed by the India-UK route where new destinations were being added. The wholly-owned low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express was also doing very well on the Kerala-Gulf sector, Verma claimed.
