Cadbury's Dairy Milk, United Kingdom's largest selling chocolate and a bestseller the world over, was first introduced in to the market 1905, after George Cadbury, grandson of the company's founder John Cadbury, returned from a mission to Switzerland.

The objective of the mission was to unlock the secret of the huge success the Swiss and the French had managed to garner in milk chocolates.

Keeping him company on the momentous journey was the company's chief confectioner. The journey was fruitful as Cadbury's team of researchers came up with the recipe for Cadbury's Dairy Milk, which managed to overtake Swiss and French and other rivals within two decades. The chocolate was manufactured at Cadbury's Bournville factory in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

A model of the world's largest Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar is unveiled as part of Cadbury Dairy Milk's centenary celebrations, at Madame Tussauds on January 18, 2005 in London. The unveiling launches a nationwide poll to find the UK's favourite personality from a Top 10 including Cat Deeley, David Beckham, Denise Lewis, Denise Van Outen, Sir Elton John, Jonathan Ross, Paula Radcliffe, Ricky Gervais, Sharon Osbourne and Will Young. The winner becomes Madame Tussauds's first celebrity figure made from Dairy Milk chocolate rather than wax.
