A born leader
The Microsoft government leaders forum is a two-day summit themed 'Leading in a Connected World', which will bring together government leaders across the Asian region to engage in discussions.
The leaders will exchange experiences and best practices related to economic development, governance and education; while examining the role that information and communication technology plays in achieving success in these areas.
Gates will deliver the closing address at the summit on December 7, 2005.
The forum will bring together leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region. The forum will present keynote speakers and interactive panel discussions that will address some of the most challenging and complex issues faced by policy makers today.
Communication IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran will speak at the event. A keynote presentation would be made by Narayana Murthy, chairman and chief mentor, Infosys Technologies, followed by Toshimitsu Motegi, former minister for information technology, Japan.
The forum would open with Gerri Elliott, corporate vice-president, worldwide public sector, Microsoft Corporation making his inaugural address on December 6.
This would be followed by a keynote presentation by the Union Science and Technology Minister, Kapil Sibal. Other participants include Mari Pangestu, Minister of Industry and Trade, Indonesia, Dr Nagy Hanna, international consultant and co-director, E-leadership Academy, the University of Maryland, Dr Linda Y Yueh, fellow in economics, pembroke college, university of oxford; member, management committee, Asia Research Centre, London School of Economics.
Sam Pitroda, chairman, National Knowledge Commission and the man behind the India's IT revolution, would also make a presentation.
