THE ENTREPRENEUR: Ramaswami Subramanian, Managing Director, Subhiksha Trading Services, got the Young Super Performer award in the 'Entrepreneur' category for 'Creating a Business from Scratch, Altering the Rules of the Game'.

His idea of a distinctly 'Indian' retail chain - which looks like your everyday kirana shop but operates like a high-end discount retail chain - has really caught on in Chennai.

Accepting the award, Subramanian commented that this was an award for achievements in the future.

Born on June 2, 1966, this IIT-Madras, IIM-Ahmedabad graduate's idol is Sam Walton, founder of WalMart.

He is married to Sri Vidhya, a chartered accountant, cost accountant, a company secretary and a housewife.
