Maruti Udyog, India's biggest carmaker, on Monday said its net profit soared by 42.1 per cent to Rs 170.9 crore (Rs 1.71 billion) during the quarter ended June 30, 2004 against Rs 120.2 crore (Rs 1.20 billion) during the year-ago period, buoyed by a 19 per cent jump in sales volume.
Turnover of the company grew by 23.7 per cent to Rs 2,515 crore (Rs 25.15 billion) against Rs 2,033 crore (Rs 20.33 billion) during the first quarter of the previous year.
