"Backlash has not gained much currency in New York. However, it has gained considerable currency in Washington DC," Daniels, who is visiting Mumbai along with a high-level business delegation, told reporters in Mumbai on Thursday.
Restricting outsourcing is against free trade and open market norms and is wrong for economics, social policies and global co-operative conditions, he said at a function organised by All India Association of Industries.
Banning of outsourcing would only help in creating "conflicts and retaliation", rather than closeness and co-operation, he added.
