"We are bullish on India and have increased our headcount by over 50 per cent since the beginning of this financial year," Xansa chief executive officer Alistair Cox told reporters on the sidelines of 'Nasscom 2004 - India Leadership Forum' in Mumbai on Thursday.

The recruitment is in line with an expected increase in growth in IT and BPO services, he said. The company would also ramp-up its research and development activities in the country.

Xansa also had the lowest attrition rates in the industry with less than seven per cent of the total number of employees, he claimed.

The company's next phase of construction for its offshore development centre in Pune is "fast progressing", he said, adding when completed Xansa would have a total capacity of 10,000 seats on a single-shift basis.

The IT and BPO major has recently opened two centres, one at Noida near Delhi and other in Chennai.

Xansa had invested over pound 24 million in India during the last two years, and the company is also planning to increase its investments in the country, he said.
