The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta is likely to accept a reduction in its fee structure as proposed by the Centre at the meeting of its Board of Governors scheduled for Saturday.

The proposed fee cut had been accepted unanimously by the Board of Governors at its meeting held here on March 26 though a final resolution in this regard had not been passed, P D Chitlangia, a government nominee on the Board, said.

He said that Chairman Y C Deveshwar had been authorised to prepare a suitable resolution which would be placed before the Board meeting tomorrow for final approval.

The IIM Dean Ashis Bhattacharya, when contacted, however, said that no final decision had been taken in this regard as yet and only the Chairman had been authorised to prepare a resolution in the light of the discussion held at the Board meeting on March 26.

Responding a query, he also said that he was not sure that whether the resolution would be placed at the Board meeting on Saturday.

At present the annual fee at the IIM-Calcutta is Rs 125,000, which the Centre proposed to bring down to Rs 30,000.
