As a follow up to World Trade Organisation Ministerial in Cancaun, Mexico, the Group of 22 developing countries, which had formed an alliance to counter pro-developed agenda of the United States and the Euiropean Union on agriculture, is likely to hold a minister-level meeting in New Delhi in January.

Industry sources said the meeting could be preceded by a business-to-business meeting among the industry leaders from these countries.
The dates for the meeting would be finalised shortly and it is expected it would be held sometime in mid-January after the senior official level general council meeting of WTO in Geneva in December.
Apart from India, the group includes Brazil, China, South Africa, Cuba, Argentina, Paraguay, Egypt, Nigeria and Pakistan.
The formidable alliance of Group of 22 was formed after US and EU submitted a framework for farm negotiations at WTO heavily loaded in favour of the developed countries on elimination of subsidies and reduction of tariffs.
South African Minister of Trade and Industry, Alec Erwin had on Sunday indicated that there could be an informal meeting of G-22 in Geneva in December to continue the discussions on the failure of the Cancun meet and to chalk out future strategy.
