In order to aggressively target the growing Indian elite, Swiss watch company Baume & Mercier is planning to target smaller cities as well.

"While we have already established a retail network in eight main cities across the country, we may look at some smaller cities as a next step in the development of the brand," Christophe Nicaise, brand manager, Baume & Mercier said.

He, however, added that the final decision would be based on customer research in these cities. Nicaise said that since its a luxury product, the company does not want to `overdistribute' the brand.

The eight cities where the company has its retailer network include Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The company is gradually increasing its focus on India and has launched 40 models in the last one year. It is spending more than 15-20 per cent of its turnover in India on advertising and increasing brand awareness, Nicaise said.

Interestingly, the company would be launching its new Hampton City range in the country within the next two months.

"It is for the first time that the launch in India would be accompanied by an international launch," Nicaise said.

The new range is likely to be priced between Rs 90,000-1,50,000 and would include models for both males and females.

The company is also exploring a possibility of setting up a flagship store which would be a multi-brand store but would display the entire range offered here.
