The Maruti Saga: Complete Coverage
This system would enable the 450 dealerships of Maruti to access updated information from the carmaker and a real time view of their operational processes for better efficiencies.
Wipro, as the core IT partner with Maruti, would be responsible for implementation, networking, training and sustenance of the dealer management system.
Maruti, which is 54.2 per cent owned by Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp, did not disclose the value of the project.
The dealer system, which would be rolled out in a phased manner, would issue alerts to dealerships whenever they are falling short of performance norms in various areas like level of customer complaints, handling and sales.
It would also enable the dealer CEOs to proactively track their various key performance indicators like inventory, sales, inquiries and debts to effectively manage their businesses, a Maruti release said.
Dealer management system is a centralised solution with all dealerships logging onto a central data centre where the application would be hosted. The security features would be controlled at the data centre along with a disaster recovery site for backup.
"Information is a critical input in taking business decisions, and this system uses the latest information technology to equip our dealer partners with relevant information at the right time," Maruti's managing director Jagdish Khattar said.
