Minister of State for External Affairs Vinod Khanna will lead the Indian delegation to the World Economic Forum extraordinary annual meeting in Jordan from June 21-23.
R M Abhyankar, secretary, MEA, will also be part of the government delegation to be accompanied by a seven-member Confederation of Indian Industry team led by Hindustan Construction Company chairman Ajit Gulabchand, whose presence is seen as crucial with regard to the reconstruction work in Iraq.
The extraordinary annual meeting is being held to bring the 'Spirit of Davos' to the Middle East during a period of global tension.
The meeting would focus on the current conflict situation in the region and aim at replacing this with the spirit of cooperation through exchange of views among academia, religious, political, social and business leaders, a CII media release said on Thursday.
Issues that are likely to figure during the meeting include state of trans-Atlantic relations, future of Middle East, the need to improve global economic performance and the effort to build a world more secure for all citizens.
Khanna would speak on the prospects of global trade along with US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Grant Aldonas, Boeing CEO Philip Condit, and Nestle CEO Peter Brabeck-Letmathe.
Abhyankar would participate in a session on 'International terrorism.'
The CII team would also meet the Jordanian Business Association, Amman Chamber of Industry and Association of Engineering Contractors.
