Star India said on Thursday that the government has sought some more clarifications from it on issues including uplinking through Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd and information on its various shell companies, and it is likely to submit its replies by Friday.
Star official Kaushal Dalal met officials in the ministry of information and broadcasting when the latest set of queries were handed over to him.
When contacted, the Star India spokesperson said: "The government sought some more clarifications today when Kaushal met I&B officials, but he didn't have all the answers so we will submit our replies by tomorrow (Friday)."
Asked about details of shell companies Star has floated in order to get permission to uplink from India, he said that while Star News Broadcast Ltd was the company which has applied to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for permission to invest in India, Touch Telcontent India Pvt Ltd was to be the infrastructure provider for Star's uplinking venture.
However, the spokesperson could not provide further details on other shell companies Star had floated for the venture.
Fresh clarifications were sought by the government even as it granted the fourth successive extension to Star to continue uplinking in the present format on Wednesday and these new set of queries are believed to be related to granting the Rupert Murdoch-owned company permission to uplink from Indian soil.
