Expressing confidence that the $50 billion export target would be achieved this fiscal, Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley indicated on Tuesday that the forthcoming Budget would contain measures to boost exports.
"The government is fully conscious of the need for creating an environment conducive to sustaining the present growth in exports. The Budget will ensure that the exports pick up," Jaitley told reporters in New Delhi.
Asked to specify the measures being considered, he said, "You can't expect me to divulge the details, just two weeks ahead of the Budget."
With exports looking up, after a record 34 per cent growth in December, Jaitley said he was reasonably confident that the $50 billion target set for this fiscal would be attained by March 31.
