Anticipating disruption of air service at Delhi airports due to foggy weather, Air-India has re-routed its Delhi-London/New York flights to Mumbai and delayed the departure of its flights to Frankfurt.
"Of the 23 flights operated by Air-India from India to Europe/USA, the change will affect only eight flights during December 24, 2003 to February 4, 2004," an A-I spokesman said.
While passengers of all the five flights operated on the Delhi-London/New York route would be taken to Mumbai the previous evening by a special flight, the departure timings of the three flights to Frankfurt from Delhi has been delayed by almost six hours to help avoid fog.
The other 15 flights -- seven to Newark, six to Chicago and two to New York -- which operate directly from Mumbai would depart as per normal schedule.
Hotel accommodation at Mumbai would be provided to all passengers booked to travel on the Delhi-London/New York flights by A-I, the spokesman said.
Likewise, all flights from New York/London-Delhi would also be terminated in Mumbai with Delhi-bound passengers transported by a special flight departing Mumbai at 1100 IST to reach Delhi by 1300 IST, the spokesman said, adding hotel accommodation to these passengers would also be provided by A-I.
