IA revises APEX fares in 8 sectorsIn a bid to increase its market share, Indian Airlines has decided to revise the APEX fare scheme from November 1 till March 31, 2003 covering 53 destinations while reducing the fare on certain sectors. The period of advance booking has also been lowered from 21 to 15 days. Fares on certain sectors from Delhi to Mumbai, Kochi, Indore, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram and from Mumbai to Kochi and Bangalore, and Kolkata to Guwahati have been lowered, in some cases much less than the a/c first class fares on the Rajdhani Express, airline officials said in Mumbai on Monday. The apex fares have helped the airline to increase their load factors from 55-56 per cent to 61-62 per cent following the introduction of this scheme, they said. The earlier scheme was to end in October but IA said on Monday that it has been successful in enlarging the market base during the past two months and the apex fare has now been modified to make it customer friendly. With effect from November one, cancellation and refund rules have also been relaxed. Passengers can now change their reservation plans or obtain refund at least 15 days prior to the date of travel after paying a minimal charge of Rs 100, IA said. The revised fare from November one are: Delhi-Mumbai -- Rs 3,400, to Kochi -- Rs 6,530, Bangalore -- Rs 4,500, Indore -- Rs 2,100 and Thiruvananthapuram - Rs 6,555. From Mumbai to Bangalore it would be Rs 2,700 and to Kochi Rs 3,200 while the Kolkata-Guwahati fare would be Rs 2,000.
