Murasoli Maran 'better', says Kalanidhi

The condition of Union Commerce Minister Murasoli Maran, who is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Houston in the US, was "better", according to his son Kalanidhi Maran.

Kalanidhi and his wife returned in Chennai from the US on Friday night after calling on the ailing DMK leader.

Murasoli Maran was flown to the United States by a special aircraft from Chennai on Nov 14 for specialised treatment.

Maran, who was under treatment at Apollo Hospital from Sept 23 last, was shifted to Houston's Methodist Hospital and Research Institute, where he is now getting specialised treatment for heart, kidney and other organs.

Maran had undergone a high-risk surgery for replacement of an artificial mitral valve and subsequently had developed complications due to infection and was in a critical condition before he was flown to the US.
