Reliance cuts key product prices

India's largest petrochemicals maker and leading refiner, Reliance Industries, said on Thursday it had cut prices of some polymer products and intermediates, but had raised the price of a polyester product.

The company said on its web site, www.ril.com, that it had cut the price of polyvinyl chloride to Rs 34.10 rupees from Rs 37.60 per kg and polyethylene terephthalate to Rs 55 from Rs 58 per kg.

The company also lowered prices of purified terephthalic acid to Rs 33.10 from Rs 34.30 a kg and monoethylene glycol to Rs 30.10 from Rs 31.90 a kg.

It left the prices of polyester staple fibre, linear alkylbenzene , polyethylene and polypropylene unchanged at Rs 54.25, Rs 51.40, Rs 37.70 and Rs 42.35 per kg respectively.

Reliance raised the price of partially oriented yarn to Rs 64.70 from Rs 63.70 per kg. Its shares were up 1.46 pe rcent at Rs 264.70, while the Bombay benchmark was down 0.35 per cent by mid day.
