Swiss firms not keen to invest in IndiaEven though the government every month clears foreign direct investments worth billions of rupees, Swiss investment in India continues to be abysmal. Factors such as high duties and too much of bureaucracy in various sectors make the country an unattractive destination for the Swiss firms. ''There are some difficulties that Swiss companies were facing in investing in India," Brigite Bruhin, head of relations with India and central Asia, state secretariat for economic affairs, Switzerland said in Chennai. "Besides bureaucracy, high level of duty mainly on watches and on some food articles like cheese were impeding Swiss investments in India," she said while speaking at a function organised by the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She pointed out that all these problems will be discussed with Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Murasoli Maran when he visits Switzerland next month. ALSO READ:
