RAD Data plans subsidiary in India

RAD Data Communications, the Israeli based communications technology company, is setting up a subsidiary in India.

The subsidiary will be the research and development arm for the company's global operations. The R&D activities by the company will be in data image and voice communication systems, networking telecommunications, e-communications and related systems.

The arm will also provide consultancy services to Indian companies in communication systems and technologies and would offer training and advising of professionals and other personnel for the Indian professionals.

RAD Data, established in 1981, offers carriers, service providers and enterprises, technology, consultancy and product offering to address network and communications requirements. Its products incorporates a broad range of technologies such as ATM; IP; Frame Relay; E1/T1; E3/T3; broadband transmission; fiber optics; voice compression; rate, interface and protocol conversion; routing; ASIC; and integrated management.

The company also offers services to provide seamless migration of data and voice services over legacy and next generation networks. The company's international service program, which offers a single point of contact for project administration, can assist carriers and corporations.

Some of its global customers include, New T&T, France Telecom, star home, Rockefeller Group Telecommunications Services Inc and Deutsche Telekom.

The entry of the company comes at a time when the country's telecommunications sector has been opened up including the opening up of the Internet telephony . Communications technology companies like Cisco, Lucent, Avaya, Juniper and Unisphere has been operational in India.
