RBI's Reddy to be India's exec director at IMF

The Reserve Bank of India's deputy governor, Y V Reddy, has been appointed as India's executive director at the International Monetary Fund for a three-year period beginning August 1, 2002.

Reddy, 61, will replace Vijay Kelkar, whose term expires in July.

Reddy has been the RBI's deputy governor since 1996 and has handled monetary policy, internal debt management, economic analysis and policy, and external investments, among other portfolios.
