Former Enron vice-chairman kills himselfFormer Enron vice-chairman Clifford Baxter was found dead with gunshot wounds in his head in what authorities say was a suicide. Baxter had resigned in May last year complaining about Enron's business practices. The body was found in his Mercedes car on Friday in a Houston suburb. Police ruled out foul play, saying Baxter had died of a "self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head". They said he also left a suicide note. Baxter, who remained a consultant with the company, had made a profit of $21,980,440 by selling 600,000 shares of Enron when its fortunes were still on the upswing. He was among 29 former and current executives of the company who have been named defendants in a lawsuit by shareholders of the bankrupt energy major, which is facing a congressional inquiry. The Senate subcommittee investigating the case had subpoenaed Baxter's documents, while the House investigators had sought to interview him. Complete coverage of the Enron saga
