HCL Technologies allots 1,68,232 shares under ESOP
HCL Technologies Ltd has informed BSE that the Employees Stock Option Allotment Committee of the Company has on August 12, 2002 allotted 1,68,232 shares of Rs 2 each (at premium of Rs 125.50 per share) to the employees on exercise of their stock options under the 1999 Employee Stock Option Plan.

Infosys Technologies Assessed at Level 5 of PCMM
Infosys Technologies Ltd on Monday announced that it has been assessed at Level 5 on the PCMM model by KPMG Consulting, becoming the first company in the world to be assessed at the Optimising level on the updated version 2.0 of the model. The assessment has been carried out at the Infosys Development Centre in Pune, which employes 1393 Infoscions - the largest centre outside of the Company's headquarters in Bangalore.
The PCMM model, developed by the Software Engineering Institute, has five levels of maturity and twenty two Key Performance Area (KPAs), across these five levels. The model helps software organisations increase their ability to attract, develop, motivate, organise and retain the talent needed to continuously improve their software development capabilities. It also helps to develop and promote a culture of excellence amongst its people. The PCMM assessment marks another milestone in the Company's successful track record of Level 5 assessments, on software CMM and more recently, the CMM integrated.

VSNL clarifies on news item
With reference to a news item appearing in a leading financial daily titled "VSNL Board to meet on August 20 on Tata Tele" Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has informed BSE that the Board has decided to meet for a short time on August 20, 2002 the day of the AGM, primarily to discuss procedural matters relating to AGM.
The company has further informed that it has not issued any press release on this subject.

Vakrangee Softwares bags contract from ECI, Maharashtra Division
Vakrangee Softwares Ltd has informed BSE that the Company has bagged on Monday an order for Data Base Administration of Electoral Rolls 2002 for the whole Maharashtra state from the election Commission of India, Maharashtra division.
The Company is well known for its expertise and domain knowledge of completing such time bound mission critical jobs and has bagged this contract on its inherent strength. The execution of the contract shall involve handling the data management of massive and sensitive data involving more than sixty million data and the Company shall complete this massive job by the mid November this year.

GlaxoSmithkline Pharma to sell its stake in Meghdoot Chemicals to Maneesh Pharma
GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd has informed BSE that the Company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding dated August 12, 2002 pursuant to which the Company has agreed to sell its entire shareholding (including the shares held by its nominees) in Meghdoot Chemicals Ltd (MCL) together with its right, title and interest for the manufacturing business of MCL to Maneesh Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd.
The sale will be effective after the Company Petitions filed by the Company and MCL for the demerger of the marketing activity of MCL into the Company are approved by the Bombay High Court.

Tulip Star Hotels Board approves proposal to hive off full-fledged money changers business
Tulip Star Hotels Ltd has informed BSE that at the meeting of the Board of Directors held on August 09, 2002 the Board of Directors have amongst other matters decided on the following matters:-
The Board of Directors has constituted a Committee of Directors to decide on the skipping of dividend or recommending dividend for the financial year 2001-02.
Subject to the approval of the shareholders and other requisite permissions and approvals the Directors have approved in-principle the proposal to hive off the business of full fledged money changers as a going concern for which the proposal will be placed before the shareholders at the fifteenth AGM. The decision to hive off the money changing business has been taken with a view to focus on the core business activity of the Company ie operation and management of hotels, resorts etc.

Punjab National Bank Board decides for closure of PNB Capital Services
