Sify launches pre-paid net telephony cardBS Bureau in Chennai Satyam Infoway Ltd, the country's leading internet service provider, has launched Way2Talk, a pre-paid internet telephony service for consumers in India to speak overseas for Rs 6 a minute. Shrikant Joshi, vice-president (access media), said, "With Way2Talk, consumers can speak longer with their friends and relatives abroad without worrying about high costs. The quality of user experience will be extremely good as we manage the call over our MPLS-based network for clarity of voice and reduced latency - all at a fraction of an ISD call." "All one requires is a PC with modem, or an Internet connection. With Way2Talk, the PC is now also a telephone, opening up international calls cost effectively," added Joshi. SatyamOnline subscribers can register at way2talk.com with the activation code and password mentioned in the pre-paid pack and make international long distance calls using the PC-2-Phone dialler. First timers can subscribe to SatyamOnline with free Internet time with every pack or dial into Sify's countrywide backbone network serving over 200 cities on the digital number 172306 and make international voice calls, or make calls from an I-way. Registered users of Sify, I-way and Sifymall.com can choose to retain existing usernames. Calls are metered and charged based on the destination and duration of the call. The rates per destination differ and will be debited based on usage. One can recharge the account and top-up the balance like a pre-paid mobile card. Way2Talk is targeted at home users who use Sify's dial-up services, cybercafe users at over 700 'I-way' cyber cafes and new users coming on to the network. The product is available in denominations of Rs100, Rs 250 and Rs 500, and can be bought online at Sifymall.com, at I-ways and all authorised retail outlets. ALSO READ:
