According to Padmaja Krishnan, vice-president, corporate planning and strategic initiatives, HCL Perot Systems, "The new development centres are being set up to cater to the increased business opportunities which we anticipate in the coming years and with a growth rate of about 30 per cent the additional facilities would serve to meet the requirements of the additional business." The two facilities are being set up with an initial capacity of around 600 seats each in the first phase, which will be subsequently enhanced to cater to a higher capacity. The company has around 1,650 employees globally, of which about 60 per cent are based in India, catering to offshore projects. However, initially the company will be relocating its staff from other development centres in Noida and Bangalore to consolidate its employees in fewer locations. "The Bangalore facility would also be developed into being a local back up facility which is a part of the company's business continuity programme," added Krishnan. Currently, HCL Perot Systems has nine software development centres spread across Bangalore and Noida with a combined area of over 13,000 sq ft. The company provides IT application services in key verticals such as finance, travel, telecom, healthcare and insurance. However according to Krishnan, the company would also develop its strategic IT consulting business which it has just started as a key growth driver since this is not being provided adequately in India. HCL Perot Systems which is the youngest enterprise-wide SEI-CMM Level 5 company in the world clocked revenues of around Rs 5 billion last fiscal with a profit after tax of Rs 850 million. ALSO READ:
