Swiss banking software firm ties up with DatasoftErshadul Huq, in Dhaka Temenos, a Swiss global leader in integrated banking software has tied up with Datasoft Systems, an India-US-Bangladesh joint venture. "This agreement enables us to enter a growing market," Gorge Koukis, chairman and managing director of Temenos, said in a statement. "The financial sector in Bangladesh has reached a crucial stage where banks are greatly in need of sound banking solutions to help them manage a fast developing economy." The Swiss company, which serves customers like Barclays Bank, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank, is confident its investment in Datasoft will lead to strong sales of its products -- Globus and Emerge software in Bangladesh. Globus is an integrated, modular international banking system with full functionality and contains robust risk management and security features. It allows institutions to have complete control over their financial systems. Emerge is a packaged retail savings, loan and micro-finance software application that can be implemented in less than two weeks. "We were looking for a company that provides quality global solution," said Datasoft managing director Mahboob Zaman, explaining the tie-up. "We chose Temenos because it is endorsed by the International Financial Cooperation of the World Bank. The Swiss are also reputed for their banking ability." Zaman said Datasoft has already around 30 prospective banking clients in Bangladesh. Datasoft, which has about 110 employees, will have its staff trained by its Swiss partner. "After going through the training, Bangladeshi IT staff will be able to install and repair Temenos software independently," said a Temenos spokesman. Indo-Asian News Service |
