Canada 3000 begins non-stop flights to India

Canada's second largest scheduled carrier has introduced the first polar-direct, non-stop flights to India.

The inaugural flight of Canada 3000 from Toronto arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday and the aircraft began services from Delhi to Vancouver after a short turnaround.

In addition to alternating airbus a-340 flights from Delhi to Toronto and Vancouver, Canada 3000 will introduce A-330-200 Bombay-Toronto services next month, said David Velupillai, regional manager for Airbus Industrie's press relations.

There are 700,000 Indians in Canada. Airline president Angus Kinnear, who accompanied a delegation of VIPs and fare-paying passengers on the inaugural flight, said Canada 3000 direct flights will be the fastest way to North America and provide new opportunities for business travel and tourism between the two continents.

He was talking to reporters through skyphone while flying over Iran towards the Indian airspace.

Canada 3000's A-340-300 seats 32 passengers in business class and 264 in economy.
