Gartner buys private research firm in IndiaGartner Inc, a global computer software and consulting service provider, on Wednesday said it has acquired a privately-owned Indian research firm to expand its operations in the country. A senior official of the New York Stock Exchange-listed Gartner told a news conference the acquisition of Aims Management Consultants was "a significant investment" but gave no details. "India is an emerging powerhouse in the global IT industry. It is also one of the fastest growing IT and telecom markets in the world," Bob Hayward, senior vice-president for Asia-Pacific and Japan, said. Gartner plans to expand its research and consulting operations in the country and also introduce its new products and services in the next few months. It currently has 11 analysts in India.
