Computer Associates launches product for e-businesses

Fakir Chand in Bangalore

Computer Associates International Inc, the $6-billion US-based global IT major, Wednesday launched ARCserve 2000 protection suites for e-businesses relying on Oracle databases, Microsoft Exchange, or Lotus Notes.

By packaging its data backup, storage, and recovery management products for three popular database and messaging environments, CA is offering mid to large-sized e-businesses a convenient, cost-effective way to procure and deploy an integrated, full-featured data protection solution.

"The packaging and pricing of CA's new protection suites are right for our organisation," testified Edwin Alsberg, director of IS operations at DTCC, the world's largest securities depository.

"Protecting mission-critical information has never been easier or more affordable."

Each specialized ARCserve 2000 protection suite contains an integrated selection of utilities enabling rapid disaster recovery, online backups of open files, unattended tape management, and selective backups of specific files or databases.

Additionally, a real-time data protection suite for Microsoft Exchange includes Survive IT 2000 - CA's high-availability e-business solution for server, application and data availability.

"e-business is an always-on proposition, so companies that want to compete in today's business environment need to implement solutions that optimize the availability of their critical applications and data," claimed Phil Tried, brand manager, storage solutions, CA.

The protection suites priced at $4,395 for Oracle and Lotus Notes and at $4,995 for Microsoft Exchange are available through CA and authorized solution providers.

As part of CA's comprehensive portfolio of storage management solutions, ARCserve provides next-generation data protection, management and data availability for any organisation type, size or business model.
