Subramanyam taken for interrogation by CBI

P S Subramanyam, former Unit Trust of India (UTI) chairman, was on Friday night taken for interrogation by the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bombay in connection with the US-64 fiasco, agency sources said.

They, however, refused to divulge details.

Earlier, CBI had raided the premises and offices of Subramanyam, two UTI executive directors M M Kapoor and S K Basu and General Manager Prema Madhu Prasad on charges of defrauding the country's largest mutual fund.

All the four have been charged with cheating, criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of funds by investing Rs 32.8 crore (Rs 328 million) in the shares of Cyberspace at an astronomical price of Rs 930 per share even after the mutual fund's equity research cell had rejected the proposal.
