GAIL to step up natural gas supply to MSEB

Gas Authority of India Ltd will increase its natural gas supply to Maharashtra State Electricity Board to reduce power cuts, Oil Minister Ram Naik said on Monday.

"We have decided to increase gas supply to 2.5 million cubic metres a day from 2.24 million earlier. This facility will be in place for three months," Naik said.

"The supply will help MSEB generate an additional 50 megawatt of electricity per day and reduce power cuts," he added.

The gas will be supplied from Bombay High which has suffered a decrease in natural gas output over the past few years.

Bombay High accounts for 35 per cent of India's annual oil output.
