Satyam, Mastek to partner Microsoft in .NET initiative

Microsoft Corp India Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of the US software giant, said Thursday it had selected two Indian firms to jointly develop solutions for the company's next generation .NET Gain Program.

Satyam Computer and Mastek will be among the 50 companies worldwide participating in the .NET Gain initative aimed at developing next generation applications on the .NET platform.

To assist them in application development, Microsoft will offer access to the latest software tools and technologies on .NET and invite development teams from Satyam and Mastek to attend summits and visit Microsoft labs in the United States, a company statement said.

".NET Gain Program offers enterprises the perfect opportunity to partner with Microsoft and jointly develop world class applications on the .NET platform," Sanjay Mirchandani, managing director of Microsoft's Indian subsidiary said.

Ashank Desai, chief of Mastek said his company had been developing web solutions for Microsoft since 1997. "The transition to the .NET initiative is a natural progression," Desai said.

Satyam Computer, which logged a 141.8 per cent year-on-year jump in net profit to Rs 875.09 million for the third quarter ending December, said it was "excited" about the venture.

"Satyam has channeled its resources towards developing in-depth expertise on Microsoft's .NET Framework and the related building blocks. This has resulted in our developing highly scalable and cost-effective business solutions," Ashok Harris, assistant vice-president of Satyam Computer said.

"We are very excited to be a part of Microsoft's .NET Program," he added.
